If your taxable supplies and imports cross AED 375,000 in any rolling 12-month window, registration is mandatory. Above AED 187,500, you can register voluntarily, which can help if you have meaningful input VAT to recover.

UAE Corporate Tax (CT) applies to most businesses operating in the UAE at 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000 and 0% below that. Every taxable person needs to register on EmaraTax and file a return, even if no tax is due.

Small Business Relief lets qualifying SMEs be treated as having no taxable income for the period, which means no Corporate Tax payable. The relief is available for tax periods through 31 December 2026 (subject to extension).
Eligibility hinges on revenue staying at or below AED 3 million in the current and all previous tax periods. We assess eligibility before electing. once elected, you give up loss carry-forwards and interest deductions for that period.
Most UAE businesses file quarterly. The FTA assigns your tax period at registration based on activity and size. Returns are due within 28 days of the end of the period; missing the deadline triggers automatic penalties.

The FTA imposes fixed and percentage-based penalties that escalate quickly. A late VAT return starts at AED 1,000 for a first offence, AED 2,000 if repeated within 24 months. Late payment penalties add 2% immediately, 4% after seven days, and 1% daily up to 300% of the unpaid tax.
If you have already received an FTA penalty notice, talk to us before responding. There are reconsideration and waiver routes that work best with a clean, complete file of evidence.
